Don McLean is an American singer-songwriter who is most famous for his song American Pie. McLean was born on October 2, 1945 in New Rochelle, New York. McLean grew up in a musical family although he was abused but he learned how to play guitar at a young age. He began performing in a coffehouses and folk clubs in the 1960s, and released his first album tapestry, in 1970. .
